- A Note about changes
Whew, it's been a while, huh? I just wanted to check in and talk about some changes at little bird studio. First and foremost; prices. How do I decide how to price items? Well, there's a few factors at play here; level of difficulty in design or construction, the time it takes to execute these designs, and supply costs. You may notice an increase in some prices as new collections are introduced. I avoided these increases as long as I could, but based on the cost of new supplies coming into stock, I will have to price accordingly. Hopefully the market will stabilize and prices can remain stable for the rest of the year. Many polymer clay jewelry designers charge more and this is because they are actually paying themselves. Because little bird studio is still new to market and I'm struggling to build a market, I'm selling at a lower price to get you to wear my items. Product names: Over the next few months in order to create consistency across the site, I'll be changing the names of the designs. What this means is that all shapes will have the same name, only the collection will differ. For example, you'll notice some item names are a little basic i.e Spring Agate teardrop dangles. Well, I have a lot of different teardrop findings. If you have a style you like and want to buy again in another collection, they'll be easier to find. Let's be honest, if I'm uploading 50-60 new items, thinking up names becomes pretty damn challenging lol. To those who have read this far; thanks for reading. Take a few minutes to scroll through the new items. To those who have purchased in the past; THANKS!!! I hope you're enjoying your items.
- What a Great Start
Hello!! I want to start by thanking each and every one of you that shared this site, viewed the shop, and made purchases. My cup runneth over. New items get added to the site as they are completed, so keep visiting, and please, KEEP SHARING. This most recent collection, the Impressionist Collection, was just added tonight and is a shop favourite. It actually takes a few days to create due to hand painting each stem, and placing each teeny-tiny petal individually, but the results bring such joy. No one item is the same, and are definitely wearable pieces of art (this time I made a pair for myself 🤗) There's limited quantities of each, however, I love this collection so much, I'll make some more later in the summer. So get yours today! Canada and US flat rate shipping and gift certificates are available on the site. Custom orders for your prom, bridal parties or just because can be designed; just click that contact button and give me an idea of what you want. I will work something up and send you images for approval. Once accepted, custom orders will require a 50% deposit, which will be sent by invoice. Thank you again everyone, and I hope your week is glorious.
- US Shipping
Hello and welcome! Today is Mother's Day here in Canada and the weather, while a little cool, is absolutely lovely! The birds are singing, the lilacs are getting ready to bloom and the peonies have buds on them woohoo! Just wanted to drop a quick note that US shipping is now available through the website and I'm pretty excited about that. The prices for shipping are based on 1-3 pieces that can be packaged in a small oversized letter envelope 😁 Off to stare at my clay until more ideas come to mind. I hope you all have a glorious Sunday!
- Hello and Welcome
Hi! Welcome to the inaugural blog post of little bird studio. A little about me; My name is Cheyenne, I'm an RN by day, crafter by night. Whether it's crochet, texture painting on canvas or, my newest venture, working with polymer clay, I have an almost constant need to find a creative outlet. This is born out of a combination of ADHD, cPTSD, and anxiety; I find when I am creating something, I can clear my mind of the constant disturbing noises and images that otherwise haunt me. I was struggling to find a new outlet, I had no desire to make yet ANOTHER blanket, I didn't want to pull out my supplies for texture painting and I stumbled across polymer clay. GAMECHANGER!! I found that the process of conditioning the clay, molding it, cutting it and mixing textures and colours became an oasis for my cluttered mind. I found myself thinking about what I could make next, what other colours I could create and what beautiful things I could add to my environment. I'm no expect, in fact I am still learning, and will continue to learn from other creators who I admire, both novice and expert. little bird studio was born one night as I was laying my head down to toss and turn and it just popped into my head. If you know anything about me, you know I have become enamoured of birds lately, little, well it's my last name, so... When I woke up it was still in my head and I created a wall logo, made up some jewelry display cards and was on my way. I intend to use this blog to demonstrate some of my newer creations, inner thoughts and musings and sometimes I may even just bombard you with pictures of the dogs hahaha. I may occasionally display and offer for sale creations other than the jewelry/accessories. You never know, I may post a sweater, afghan or little stuffed chicken for you to gift (or treat for yourself.) This website and blog is a work in progress; I hope to add a search function to help you narrow down your search if you're looking for something specific, I'm still trying to figure out how to link the little bird studio Facebook page to the site, and as I make new creations, I will posting them to the shop as well. So thank you for coming and checking out my little corner of the world. Please take a few minutes to look through the catalogue and if you see something you like, please support my need for more craft supplies and buy yourself or someone you love something wonderful. And if you want to drop a line, give suggestions, advice or compliments, all are welcome. Don't forget to like and share with all of your family and friends....I have a lot of wanted craft supplies hahahaha. Forever thankful, Cheyenne
